Al Dhaid is the main city of the central region, known for its fertile land and dense palm groves,
which are irrigated by water flowing from nearby mountains. Part of this water is carried through
ancient irrigation channels, called aflaj (singular falaj)—a unique traditional system that has
sustained agriculture for centuries.
The city occupies a strategic location at the entrance to one of the region’s major valleys, giving
it an important role in both agricultural and urban development. It sits on an alluvial plain to the
east of a well-known coastal city, with excellent roads linking it to the mountains and coasts to
the east and west, as well as to the fertile northern lands. To the south lies Dubai, a vibrant
bustling hub just 30 minutes away. Therefore, the city of Al Dhaid, at the heart of the central
region, enjoys proximity to coasts, fertile lands, mountains, and major cities.
