Legal Affairs Specialist

Job Purpose:
To provide legal support to Al Dhaid University by reviewing contracts and regulations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, and protecting the university’s legal interests.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Communicate, as directed by the attorney, with the “Office of His Highness, the Ruler of Al Dhaid the State Issue Department” and “The Ministry of Justice” regarding the cases filed against the University or by the University to ensure proper legal actions are taken.
  • Collect, organize, and study laws, regulations, resolutions, and instructions related to the university’s operations, and provide suggestions for their improvement.
  • Respond to all legal inquiries related to university work.
  • Draft and review decisions issued by the university.
  • Review contracts, agreements, and similar documents, and provide legal opinions.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and follow up on legislative updates.
  • Collect and analyze data and information related to relevant legislation.
  • Prepare legal documents related to cases and appeals, including memoranda, evidence, and supporting materials.
  • Follow up on legal cases filed by or against the university before judicial authorities in the country.
  • Communicate and coordinate with government entities regarding legal issues or pending cases.
  • Liaise with various departments to gather legal and non-legal information as needed.
  • Prepare detailed periodic reports on the work of the Legal Affairs Office.
  • Archive all legal documents and files related to the Legal Affairs Office.
  • Handle all legal affairs with strict confidentiality.
  • Perform any other similar duties assigned by the direct supervisor within the required time frame.

Job Specific Accountabilities:
    Operational Plans:
  • Participate in developing the department/college’s operational and business plans, and contribute in its execution, in line with the department/college’s strategy in order to support the achievement of the University’s strategic objectives.
    Continuous Improvement:
  • Provide input to enhance the processes and procedures that help implement the relevant best practices.
  • Follow all relevant processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions accurately to ensure that job tasks are carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
    Systems, Processes and Reports:
  • Generate relevant reports and ensure that they are prepared timely and accurately, and meet the department’s requirements and standards.
  • Operate the required software/hardware accurately and effectively.

    Internal:
  • Chancellor’s Office.
  • Academic and non-academic staff members.
  • Colleges, departments and centers.
  • Executive departments (e.g. HR, Finance, etc.).
    External:
  • Office of His Highness, the Ruler of Al Dhaid.
  • Ministry of Justice.
  • Government Organizations.
  • Students/Student’s families.
Required Qualification & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Law from an accredited university with relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Law from an accredited university with no prior experience.
  • Priority is to UAE Nationals.
Required Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
  • Advanced computer literacy and strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent legal research and analytical skills, with flexibility in dealing with evolving legislation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High-level precision in legal drafting and documentation.
  • Solid understanding of various legal statutes, judicial rulings, and court decisions.
  • Critical thinking abilities and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
