Job Description:
The Infrastructure Services Section Head is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, management, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure. This includes ensuring the availability, performance, and security of network systems, data centers, servers, storage, and cloud environments. The role involves leading a team of infrastructure professionals, managing resources, and aligning infrastructure strategy with business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • System Administration: Oversee the configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of servers and network operating systems to ensure optimal performance for university applications.
  • Performance Management: Manage and optimize system performance, capacity, and availability to meet the needs of the university.
  • Operations Strategy: Develop and implement strategies for the ongoing operations and support of IT systems and services.
  • Systems Management: Administer operating systems, messaging platforms, file sharing, virtualization components, and other network-based applications.
  • Directory Services Management: Oversee directory services, including necessary integrations and scripting to streamline operations.
  • Log Monitoring: Monitor system logs for potential issues and ensure proactive problem resolution.
  • Internet and Access Control Management: Manage university internet services and ensure proper access control measures are in place.
  • Software Release Management: Assist in planning and managing software releases to minimize disruption and ensure smooth updates.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development of IT policies and procedures, ensuring their effective implementation and compliance.
  • Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage data backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery plans to safeguard systems and data.

Requirements:

  • To citizens of the United Arab Emirates only.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in IT systems administration and operations management.
  • Proficiency in network operating systems, network concepts and internet/intranet services.
  • Practical experience in administrating datacenter servers, storage and security infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in messaging systems such Microsoft Azure, Office 365 cloud solution and security Mail gateway servers.
  • Strong knowledge in Planning and supervising Disaster Recovery operations and procedures.
  • Practical experience in administrating in Microsoft windows environment such as windows Active Directory, Group policy and windows clustering service etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of Virtual technology such Virtual Infrastructure – Servers (VMWare-vSphere), Virtual Desktop Infrastructure-VMWare Horizon View and Virtual infrastructure Backup and Recovery-Veeam.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to function effectively as part of a team.
