Position Purpose:
The Department of Arts and Humanities at the College of Arts, Sciences, and Information Technology announces an academic vacancy for the position of Assistant Professor in Sociology, starting in the Fall semester of 2025-2026.
The Assistant Professor of Sociology will be responsible for teaching courses in various sociology fields, including social theories, social research methods, applied sociology, and social problems. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for supervising student research and contributing to curriculum development in line with the latest sociological studies and research methodologies. The professor is also expected to participate in academic, research, and service activities within the department, college, and university.
Applicants must have a strong research record, including publications in peer-reviewed journals, preferably indexed in Scopus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching undergraduate courses in sociology.
  • Supervising senior projects and student research.
  • Developing and updating curricula based on the latest sociological studies.
  • Maintaining a strong research record and publishing in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Providing academic advising to students.
  • Participating in academic committees, institutional activities, and community engagement initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience after obtaining the Ph.D.
  • A strong research record, including publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods, such as SPSS, NVivo, and STATA.
  • Experience in curriculum development and effective classroom management.
  • Experience in academic accreditation processes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within an academic team.
  • Proficiency in both Arabic and English is preferred.
