Purpose of the Position:
The Department of Arts and Humanities at the College of Arts, Sciences, and Information Technology announces an academic vacancy for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor in Islamic History and Civilization, starting from the Fall semester of 2025-2026.
The Visiting Assistant Professor of Islamic History and Civilization will be responsible for teaching courses in Islamic History and Civilization, supervising student research, and contributing to curriculum development in accordance with the latest historical studies and modern research methodologies. The candidate is also expected to participate in academic, research, and service activities within the department, college, and university.
Applicants must have a strong research record, including publications in peer-reviewed journals, preferably indexed in the Scopus database.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching courses in Islamic history and Islamic civilization at the undergraduate level.
  • Supervising senior projects and student research.
  • Developing and updating curricula based on the latest historical research.
  • Maintaining a strong research record and publishing in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Providing academic advising to students.
  • Participating in academic committees, institutional activities, and community engagement initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Islamic History or Islamic Civilization.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience after obtaining the Ph.D.
  • A strong research record, including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ability to employ modern historical research methodologies.
  • Experience in curriculum development and effective classroom management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within an academic team.
  • Proficiency in both Arabic and English is preferred.
