Director of Finance Department
Job Description:
To provide strategic and operational direction in developing the Finance Department’s policies and
procedures, as well as monitor and control financial aspects of the University of Al Dhaid by providing
recommendations on financials to ensure that assets and financial resources are managed, and that the
University is financially stable.
Responsibilities:
- Establish or recommend financial policies, objectives and procedures and supervises their development and implementation.
- Develop relative workflows and procedures in alignment with the university’s policies and regulations, and the requirements of UAE ministry of higher education in order to achieve UODH’s vision and mission.
- Implement and maintains practical and effective budgetary, accounting, cash and working capital management, cost, capital expenditure evaluation and other operating controls to safeguard the University's assets and resources.
- Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of relevant financial statements, accounts, reports and analysis to support the daily business decision-making process.
- Authorize payments, deposits and transfers within defined authority limits ensuring that the authority matrix is followed.
- Review management accounts and ensures that they represent the actual financial position of the University and that they are in compliance with the University's relevant policies and procedures, by-laws, statutory requirements and International Accounting Standards.
- Oversee day-to-day activities in the Finance Department and ensure that events and activities are executed correctly and efficiently. As well as ensure that work tasks are distributed between team members fairly and professionally.
- Lead the development of the Finance Department’s KPIs and be the point of contact between the department and the Office of Strategic Planning in order to report on the department’s progress and prepare the necessary action plans. As well as ensure that each team member has a good understanding of the department’s KPIs and how their roles can impact their achievement.
- Provide leadership to the Finance Department’s team in order to build and develop their organizational capabilities, provide them with development opportunities such as training, coaching, etc., as well as report on their performance.
- Facilitate communication between the Finance Department and other departments, to ensure that any correlated and linked job tasks are completed smoothly and in a timely fashion.
- Manage the hiring process for the Finance Department including preparing request to recruit forms, selection and interview process in order to ensure the best and most suitable candidates are selected for the available vacancies.
- Ensure the maintenance of strong working relationships with banks and other financial institutions, insurance companies and external auditors.
- Arrange the financial audits of the University's accounts and supports the process by providing any required information to ensure the completion of the audit process on time and on budget.
- Provide various reports, strategic plans, analyses and statistics related to the Finance Department when requested by top management.
- Complete any other job-related tasks as assigned by the line manager within the expected time limit.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, MIS or a relevant discipline.
- Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of equivalent accreditation (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ICAS, etc.)
- More than 15 Years of UAE experience in leadership position preferably in higher education institutions.
- Priority to UAE Nationals.
Monthly Salary:
- Start from 24,000 to 34,000 AED.
